The Australian eCommerce Network was set up in late 1998 (originally as the Victorian eCommerce Network) to provide a forum for local ecommerce and industry executives to hear expert presentations on topical ecommerce issues.

It was founded by Stewart Carter, publisher and editor of the eCommerce Report, with support from Shell Australia's then eCommerce manager, Ray Steele.

At that time, there was a generally poor level of understanding of eCommerce topics such as on-line shopping, B2B exchanges, data privacy and security, digital signatures and authentication, copyright and intellectual property. Arguably, levels of understanding in the general business community are not much better today.

The Network attempts to address that situation by organising presentations from leading ecommerce and industry executives.

Its objectives also include

  • Promoting Australian eCommerce product and service providers
  • Facilitating information sharing amongst Australian ecommerce professionals
  • Underwriting ecommerce skills development in the Australian business community

Meetings

Meetings are held up to six or seven times a year and are open to the public.

A charge of $100 applies to casual attendance per meeting/seminar.

Subscribers to the Network are exempt from the charge. Network subscriptions are available in two categories - Professional/Business and Corporate/Organisations.
